A BIT ABOUT US

Covered Ministries History

Covered Ministries was founded on January 23, 2022 in the state of Georgia as a non-profit organization.  The organization’s covering scripture is Deuteronomy 10: 18 due to its dual passions of food assistance to single parent households and mentorship for youth.

The founders of Covered Ministries are Victory Church ushers who are part of a Victory Church Men's Group that bonded and evolved while serving their local community.  In July 2018, the Men's Group began its community outreach by sharing monthly appreciation dinners with the firefighters of Fire Station 11 in Norcross, Georgia.  In June 2019, the Men's Group helped Fire Station 11 to install smoke detectors in vulnerable local apartment units.

In March 2024, Covered Ministries established bi-weekly Mentorship Thursdays at Victory Church Norcross Campus.  This space will facilitate the recruitment of mentors, mentees and tutors to engage with our students through regular check-ins, college tours, TeenScan conversations between parents and students, mentee lunches, tutoring, driver’s education, and other outings.

This is the timeline of partnerships that Covered Ministries has formed from April 2020 to the present. In April 2020, the Men's Group established a monthly volunteer relationship with the Mending the Gap non-profit organization which serves seniors in the Gwinnett County community.  In June 2020, the Men's Group established a monthly volunteer relationship with the Fully Furnished Ministries non-profit organization which provides furniture, dignity and hope to vulnerable families in the Gwinnett, Fulton and Dekalb county communities. In May 2021, the Men's Group launched its first summer program which provided 11 adolescent boys and girls with an opportunity to connect with their local community.  In December 2021, the Men's Group delivered emergency food and resources to Stripling Elementary School in Norcross, Georgia.  In February 2022, Covered Ministries established a monthly volunteer relationship with the Streetwise Georgia non-profit organization. StreetWise provides emergency food and resources for all families and the non-profit implemented a Working Families Night program in 2023. Covered Ministries partnered with Victory North Cobb in November 2022 to deliver turkeys & hens to the Oak Grove Elementary School and again in December 2022 to deliver new bicycles to the Victory North Cobb neighboring community.  In October 2023, Covered Ministries established a monthly volunteer relationship with the Atlanta Community Food Bank Stone Mountain facility.

Covered Ministries is excited to continue to grow and to establish partnerships with other volunteers and organizations that are working to transform and impact our community.
